PDF Help Preventive Care After Laser Treatment Follow-up: After a single laser treatment, 80% of patients notice cosmetic improvement of their nails. The new nail grows out from the root of the nail and displaces the old abnormal nail. Some patients will require an additional treatment or two due to an incomplete cure. The purpose of follow up appointments is to determine if and when additional treatments are required. Nails will require up to a year to grow out completely. Patients will be monitored for 6-12 months to confirm clearing of the nail plate. Biotin will increase the rate of nail growth, promoting quicker nail growth thus quicker nail clearing.
